On June 24th, Sarah and Catherine collected herbs known to promote peace, protection  and calm, locally harvested in the wilds of Rockaway; as in some traditions it is said that herbs collected on this day are fortified and blessed and they can be used to chase out negativity from the home.  The dew on this morning is said that when prepared in baths or sprays can be used to make one beautiful.  Barefoot, within the predawn hours of the rising New Moon in Cancer, a sign of the Zodiac traditionally associated with home and safety, we gathered to infuse these candles with the healing balm of peace and a safe home for all.  With offerings of herbs, nuts, cakes, blue and yellow candles dressed in herbs, and various collected waters, we inscribed our intentions and sang our prayers.  In the astrologically elected time, Jupiter was placed directly on the ascendant in what is termed her exaltation where Jupiter is thought to be lifted up like an exalted guest to the table.  Jupiter known as the Greater Benefic signifies soul, life, happiness, truth and patience.  It is the planet of wisdom, intellect and good work.  

It was magical creating a fire in Sarah’s yard, as Sarah hosted a house of teenagers and we sat before the flames feeling truly at home and the expansive providence of Jupiter and bursting beginning of the New Moon,

The intentions of these candles are for a peaceful and safe home.
